What to expect
Individual therapy is meant to be a safe and empowering experience for you, so it is very important to us that you feel comfortable. Having a therapist who is a good fit for you is very important so you can build trust and work together effectively. Different therapists have different personalities and approaches--although research shows all approaches are pretty equally effective--you may find that you click better with one style than another, and that is just fine.
You may want to come a few minutes early to complete the intake paperwork, but it is certainly not required. On the first visit you and your therapist will get to know each other a bit and make sure you feel comfortable. The therapist will seek to understand the concerns you have and areas you want to work on, so they can help you by providing ideas and support to help you reach your therapeutic goals.
